Make your health-related New Year's resolutions be the exception to the rule!

The tradition of New Year's resolutions goes back at least 4,000 years to the ancient Babylonians who made resolutions after days of celebration to keep themselves in good standing with the Gods!

This tradition continues with just under half of us making New Year's resolutions. Over 70% of all resolutions are related to either physical health, weight loss, eating habits or mental health and sleep. It is great that so many people are focused on improving health. However, sticking to resolutions is hard.

Despite the best of intentions, 80% of us will not have been able to sustain our New Year's resolutions, according to a US psychologist and expert in health coaching.

Here’s the good news! There are strategies and tactics that can be used, such as the type of goals you set and how those goals are set, which enhance the likelihood of success. Importantly, according to one of the largest studies evaluating New Year resolutions, those people who receive support do better than those who do not.

At Next Practice Deakin, we can help support you with your health-related resolutions for 2021. We can support you by providing expert medical guidance and help you to shape your health-related goals for 2021 so you are one of the 20% who are successful.

Australian Menopausal Society Symptom Score Card

The AMS Symptom Score Card is a short questionnaire designed to help you and your doctor understand the severity and impact of your menopause or perimenopause symptoms. It allows you to record symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disturbance, mood changes, cognitive changes, vaginal dryness and other physical or emotional concerns. Each symptom is rated on a simple scale, helping track changes over time. Completing the score card before your appointment helps your doctor: 1. Understand your most concerning symptoms 2. Assess how menopause is affecting your daily life 3. Guide decisions about treatment options 4. Monitor your progress over time We encourage you to complete the scorecard before your menopause consultation and bring it with you, or submit it via your online form if provided.
