Described as the father of contemporary epidemiology he investigated the cholera outbreak in London in 1854 concluding cholera was spreading through contaminated water.
His approach of questioning, observing, reasoning, and testing led to a rigorous scientific inquiry to understand the cause of cholera. In doing so he demonstrated healthy curiousness, courage, and collaboration.
