Care at the end of life is about what matters most — comfort, dignity and being supported every step of the way.
Kate was born in England and spent her childhood between Papua New Guinea and Sydney. She became a Registered Nurse in 1996, later specialising in critical care and palliative care. In 2008, Kate completed her training as a Nurse Practitioner and has since built extensive experience across the ACT and surrounding region.
Kate has recently completed a Master of Laws, focusing on international health law and human rights. Alongside her clinical work, she is an authorised voluntary assisted dying practitioner in the ACT, supporting patients with compassionate, patient-centred end-of-life care.
Her approach is grounded in helping people and their carers manage pain, symptoms and the complexities that come with life-limiting or life-changing diagnoses. She is passionate about improving access to sustainable and equitable palliative care, with a particular focus on strengthening services across Australia and the Pacific — including current work in the Solomon Islands.
Outside of work, Kate is first and foremost a mum. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, four-wheel driving and exploring new places. A lifelong learner, she is always seeking new challenges and opportunities to grow.
